Preparation H On A Fissure

Scotland (less than) four days - Day 3

Where was I stopped? Right, just before Day Three, also known as Tuesday, 19th October 2010. And then there are the better pursuit of a map, found here (however, the specified milestones this time to read in reverse order).

waited After a short night, so the last full day mentioned to us. And he should actually be full - we had set ourselves a lot. It started before dawn when we left. The breakfast was canceled because we were too early on the legs. Fortunately, the kitchen staff of the hostel so helpful and flexible to mind ein Lunchpaket für die Fahrt zusammenzustellen.

Nach einigen Metern über eine kleine Street has been released of the first structural view of the photo opportunity of the day:

A castle so. Imposing and photogenic, but otherwise nothing special, you might think. I thought at that time also. Only the words of an information board got me some attention: From a royal residence to a ridiculously silly movie that is stood there. A brief reference in Wikipedia, it later brought to light: In Doune Castle we were, without knowing it, before one of the sites of Monty Python and the Holy Grail . And it should not be the last film set of the day.

The next time we were actually in Killin support. Here was a natural attraction our goal - right in the village: The Falls of Dochart . A narrow stone bridge leads the main road just above the cascades of the river Dochart :

stay in Killin was connected with a catch in which we brought packed lunches destroyed.
The next stop at should

was improvised again, saw it but also for beautiful photos, including the first successful Panorama of the Day . Glen Coe , the valley of the River Coe , covers a classic, Scottish Highland scenery, attracts hikers and skiers - and several filmmakers. Titles such as Quest for Fire , Braveheart was and the Holy Grail (see above) Harry Potter und der Gefangene von Askaban und noch zahlreiche weitere wurden vor seiner grandiosen Kulisse verfilmt.

... before we Photography ...

... and then immediately return to the below table attachment - there were still more goals on the list.
Suddenly we were, however, once taken a wrong turn in Fort William , only once again in front of a castle, or rather the ruins of which we of course could not ignore it. Inverlochy Castle also found some nice photos:

went past it then, following the Commando Memorial in Spean Bridge ...

... at the Well of Seven Heads ...

... and the Bridge of Oich happening, but in the 19th century represented both structurally and traveler, a milestone and has therefore today is a listed building:

all be targeted happened to us in the already somewhat more mountainous regions in a Passing Place another road user ...

... before we even the same parking area for another short stop and , accordingly, took another photo:

The weather had, as you can see, in the meantime deteriorated and soon put even the first snow showers one - in the heights of the Highlands in October, probably not uncommon allerdings vielleicht etwas ungeschickt bei einem Auto mit Sommerreifen.
We were rewarded with nice pictures. The weather played with again, the sky offered once again a diverse mix of sun and clouds, the photos was more likely to be as detrimental:

A short walk then allowed even a glimpse of something above:

Nessie could be the way during our stay, not able to look.
Inverness, the unofficial capital of the Highlands was, finally, the final scheduled day's destination. About the city but I can not say much, in advance, it was difficult to make any interest therein identified, and it was for us just a drive-through station, although the northernmost of all our Scotland tour.
were told how it originally planned goals checked off. Unexpectedly, we stumbled through a short detour east of Inverness, but then two historical (in one case even more prehistoric) sites.

First there was the battlefield of Battle of Culloden : Here, in Culloden Moor were faced in the 18th century, troops of the rebellious Jacobites to the English army (and inferior to him in the end):

On the other hand was still very close to the Bronze Age burial ground Balnuaran of Clava , which we reached on occurrence of dawn. Huge stone graves have been there in the millennia before our era has been created:

It was an impressive and dignified end to our trip to the Scottish Highlands. Before us was now only the nightly drive back to Edinburgh, which meant, however, again in about the same mileage as the distance traveled already. I save at this point discussion of decreasing temperatures and increased snowfall on the Scottish passports, about constant eye on the thermometer and light concerns about the suitability of the summer tires. Important to know is that we are late at night still intact our rental car could park in his garage and that we were able to capture the return walk to the hostel a few impressions of the night, non-snowy Edinburgh:

Despite the late return of the night promised to be less this time short, as was provided for the day other than pack and fly home just a little program.

'll Still, I can still here a further report will follow, which I would then decide the Scottish adventure.

Good night!
